Some stoves are called upright stoves and have an oven and top all together. Others are a hob and wall oven. There are some upright cookers where the oven is gas and the top is gas, and some that are electric oven and gas top.
If changing to a model that has an electric oven from a gas oven the cable to the oven may need upgrading to make it large enough. That may require an electrician to check the cable is big enough. You should log a service call to get that booked in as a first step. Same for going all-electric from gas. An electrician will not connect an electric stove to a cable that is too small. You will need a price first to upgrade that cable.

Gas is not running out anytime soon for residential. They are topping up with Hydrogen and biogas. They already have the plants up and running in Auckland. Residential use is very small. We can also bring in gas from Australia.
